One of our favorite ways to hold students accountable for learning is using exit and entry tickets. A perfect way to review the previous lesson, vocabulary terms, get pumped for the day ahead, and more!
WHAT'S INCLUDED in this YEAR LONG LESSON:
• 25 various formats of Entry and Exit tickets for Science
→ Instructions for utilizing the handouts in your classroom
→ Two sizes for printing - full page and half page
CLASSROOM CHECKUP:
These sheets can be used as an intro for each day, week/section, or unit. It’s a simple way for students to write down their essential questions, learning objectives from previous lessons and the current lesson, and a summary of how they know they have mastered the material (using “I can” statements). Students can also express any questions they have about the material so this can be turned in as a quick check to assess student concerns and misconceptions.
ENTRANCE & EXIT TICKETS:
Entrance tickets help set the tone for your class period by getting students involved in learning immediately upon entering the classroom. They are intended to be used for concept review, quick formative assessments, introducing new topics, and determining prior knowledge. Display or hand out the activities at the beginning of class. We recommend that they are available for pick up as students arrive to class OR are projected on the board with directions to complete while you attend to your class routines.
Exit tickets wrap up your class period by getting students thinking about what they learned for the day or week. They will review concepts or act as a quick assessment to determine retention of information. Display or hand out the activities at the end of the class. Do not make them available for students as they arrive in class as they may complete the activity at the beginning of class. Students can turn in their exit tickets and you can look over their understanding and concerns or allow an additional 2-3 minutes at the end of class to have a class discussion.
JUST LIKE SCIENCE: These exit tickets and activities that follow them in the pack are science analogies that allow students to show their understanding and concerns by making real life connections. These can be graded or just used as a fun assignment that allows for small or large group discussions regarding the day’s lesson.
